Mi A3 review! Stock Android at Rs.12,999.

The Mi A3 is the 3rd installment in Xiaomi's A series. The A series offer stock Android experience at low price due to the phones being launched  under the android one program. This is great if you don't like Chinese UI in general and will also be getting security patches and android updates real fast. The Mi A2 received Android P within 2 months of release. Well let's see if this carries the stock android legacy.

Specifications:

  • 48MP AI Smart Triple Camera
  • 32MP AI Selfie Camera
  • 4030mAh High-capacity Battery
  • 15.46cm (6.08) Super AMOLED Display
  • Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5
  • Qualcomm® Snapdragon 665 AIE 11nm

-Build & Camera-

The first downside in the A3 undoubtedly the HD+ screen with the resolution of 720×1560. In this day and age a 1080p panel is standard even in the lower budget segment. The reason for the downgrade is due to AMOLED screen instead of IPS LCD. As the in display fingerprint scanner works only on AMOLED display. The display has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and is protected by Corning Gorilla glass 5. As for the rear camera the Mi A3 has a triple camera setup with the main camera being 48 MP accompanied with a 8 MP ultrawide and a 2 MP depth sensor and the front camera is a 32 MP sensor. The photos with the device were good but it was slow to focus at times. This can be solved with a software update so hope they roll out a fix for this.

The Mi A3 also has an IR blaster up top of you need that. The display is a good super AMOLED panel but you can notice the pixel as the phone has a 720p display on such a huge screen the pixel density of the screen is really low. Hence it is noticeable while reading texts and looking at Sharpe images and is definitely the biggest downside of this phone.

-Performance & Battery-

The Mi A3 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 powering it. This 11nm processor is common in this price range and that is due to its price to performance output. This phone does not have any performance issues and stock Android on top of that is a icing on the cake. While gaming also this phone has no problem as it only has a 720p screen all the games ran smoothly from asphalt 9 to PUBG Mobile. The battery is another strong point for the device as it has 4030 mAh battery and will carry you throughout the day on medium usage condition. The charger which comes out of the box is a standard Xiaomi 10 Watt charger although the phone supports fast charging you will be required to buy the fast charging separately.

-RAM & Storage-

This phone comes in 4 GB and 6GB different ram variants and both has 128 GB of storage. There is also option to expand storage with micro SD up to 256 GB but this phone has a hybrid slot. So if you are using dual SIM than this is not an option.

-Pricing & Availability-

The 4 GB variants is prices at Rs. 12,999 and the 6GB variant at Rs. 15,999. This phone is launched in the traditional Xiaomi flash sale format and will go on another flash sale on 27th at 12pm IST at both Amazon India and Mi store so if you are looking for this device than so should keep an eye out for this sale.
